  • Inspired Pleasure – the dance diaries of Alysse Aallyn

    11:45 AM  Sun 1 May 77

Keith softened me up by calling to ask if I’d been in

his office. He smelled my perfume. (I hadn’t.) Agreed to go out with him

Sat night.  Just awful.  Awful. Keep wishing he was literally ANYONE

else. Dating someone who doesn’t interest you sexually is like trying

to diet by ordering food you dislike. (I actually tried this. Ordered tripe.)

Howlably  stupid. Yet no one to howl to.

                                R. says he’d “hate” to think I “needed” him and didn’t

call. Am I the stupid one here? I think so. Sucker for punishment. Upstairs,

Downstairs cheers me up a little. Considering renting little house in the

wilds of Virginia. Or garden apt. utilities included. Dogs would like it –

close to clubs. Read Eliz Savage’s Good Confession – very minor.

    Cleaning. Laundry, dishes, garbage.

Thinking about Sylvia Plath and the problem of panic

attacks. It’s all about learning to steer into the skid.

                        Wed May 4 – 77

Made illegal copies of novel at work, drove to Plush

Palace in Virginia to audition. (10 Mins down Rt 1 from Woodrow

Wilson bridge. 1 HR commute). VA pays better, mandates pasties

& stockings, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (I’m not kidding)

makes sure you don’t sit with or talk to clientele. Amen! I was hired

immediately $90 day plus tips.  So pleased.  Got a car appt Fri 13th

so El Diablo won’t die on Beltway. Working Thurs, Fr. Sat and there’s

no holdback, they pay you immediately.  Buy G-strings & pasties

    Landover mall.

Avril says R “betrayed” me.  But do you “betray” someone

by having a weak character? He can’t help it. A says he’s behaved

so badly there’s no hope for him.   I think he can’t make up his mind –

he wants me only if I don’t want him.  Plus if he finds out I’m dancing

again he’ll want to “convert” me.  (He’ll think I’m doing it just to torture

him. I don’t plan to tell.) Gave A a copy of my novel to read – feeling

insane – got to get reaction from SOMEBODY. Broadcast asks me to

stay “on call” so Mr. Pierce has forgiven me or is desperate.

                       Plush Palace – 9 PM Fri 6 May 77

Very nice dressing room. Girl I’m dancing with (Darla) is just

awful. Find the comparison very cheering. A gobbled my novel up, says

it’s “deep” but “obsessive”;  made me feel on right track.  How much can

I torture my audience? I‘ve GOT to stop blubbering and start fantasizing.

Who CARES about the pathos of my existence? Make something up.

                       Sat. 7 May 77

House is mine! Everyone moved out.  (A’s & Mason’s new

place just what they wanted – skyscraper urban nightmare.) Listening

to opera, reading NY Times, feeling like a Big Success. Dog across

my chest in blissful rapture. ($100 in tips last night!!!) R called to say

I “always have a place with him” and He “has never taken my heart

ring off”. Is he nuts or am I?

Realize for the first time he says things he KNOWS aren’t

true just to hear himself say them!!  Just like the Victorians –

mouthing something is halfway there!  Because you’re making an

effort! You could not imagine anyone more opposite from me. Hopeless,

hopeless, hopeless, as the rock musicians say.

Reading Bottle Factory Outing – so wonderful. (But liked

The Secret Glass better.) Trying to numb weird longings to write ghost

stories by eating chicken potpie (regression). Wrote first draft of a short

story about a grandmother telling her shocked granddaughter about

“the time I almost committed suicide”. Very matter of fact.  Feel I’m

recovering from “mono-soul-iosis” – not just R but my first marriage,

Devon and everyone between.   Shoulders asks to borrow lawnmower –

asked me if I want to watch him use it.  (He knows he’s pretty.)  I do.

                       7:15 PM 8 May 1977

Feeling much better, like I’ve passed a turning point.  Wasn’t

sure how much I could trust myself in the past, but if I’ve come through

this, my core must be solid, instead of the jelly mass I fear. Sitting in my

far-from-clean study beneath my poster of Blake’s God & the Angels

enjoying an after dinner cup of coffee. Sanity returns. A. is coming tonight

to get her flokati rugs – that will make the downstairs look empty.   Trying

to finish Household’s Courtesy of Death, so I can take all these silly books

to the library, dump them, and get a lifetime supply of Peter de Vries. The

only proven painkiller is laughter. My damn novel’s made a fool out of me.

     Time to admit it.

                       3:15 PM 9 May 77

Called into Broadcast to sub for Loretta.  Working on Devlyn

galleys. The main scary thing about this place is that no one works

here willingly. “Morale” is a poisonous miasma.  Kind of like the

    architects’ office.

Mom & Dad raise hell over A’s living with Mason.  I thought

they were so worked up about “commitment”!  Sharing an apt is a

commitment, isn’t it? Not according to them. Glad poor A is taking

the storm for once and not me. Couldn’t cope with them on top of

everything else. R. and I are trying to evolve into a “friendship”. It

sounds stupid but there has to be some third place between

attraction and avoidance because each of those is obsession.

When I ran this idea past R he said I was his “best friend”.  This is

why he is so impossible to deal with.  Best friend? He wouldn’t

treat a pet the way he’s treated me (the SPCA would come and get him.)

Speaking of Ryder, he just called. Finished my book,

found the Black Mass a little short otherwise liked it. Didn’t say a

word  about “who’s Hank based on.” Thank God. He did ask who

the baby’s father is – I said even Nilssa doesn’t know.  According

to R.  I have “no problems”. (He doesn’t know about the dancing.  If

he was REALLY my best friend I could tell him.) He says we have

the whole rest of our lives to talk.  He’s uncannily good at saying

what I want to hear (unfortunately).  Seeing him tonight.  Take the bus

home, buy wine, wash & set my hair.  If only we could get to the stage

where we no longer fear each other.

                       4:50 PM Tues 10 May 77

Well we’re not out of the woods yet but perhaps have

found a path.  Last night was like losing my virginity all over again

    – we were both so shy. Slept wrapped up and embracing. Many

compliments on my body (no tell-tale glitter in the bed.)  He said he

was so upset by me breaking up with him at McDonald’s he can’t

go to any McD’s anymore.  Pledges of love somewhat ruined by

an argument during breakfast about whether a novel can be “good”

if no one will buy it. Uh oh. I tried keeping it philosophical, not

giving historical examples he wouldn’t recognize (which would be

“one-upping”.) Finally stopped when he got a call from a “goofy

chick.” Should I be worried, I ask, and he says no. But I can’t avoid

the sinking feeling that I don’t dare hitch my wagon to anyone

so dependent on mass psychology – even as a friend – without losing my way

    The Goddess – Power

When This Archetype Chooses You – Is this your archetype? You are one of the Elect. Most people feel that because the Goddess archetype represents power it’s the most valuable archetype in the Creative Oracle. But creativity builds over time, and power can destroy in an instant. We are well familiar with fires that get out of control, rage-fueled spirals, explosives that blow up in your face and escalating weaponry. How do we master such an overwhelming force?

You Must Own Your Power – Accept that you have the force within you to get things done and to bend unfriendly circumstances to your desire and will. To others, creativity looks like magic. Accept that. Isn’t that what we all want – a little magic?

You Are Iconic – But the Goddess archetype is about the inherent magic that is especially, irreplaceably You. You have a power no one else has, incorporated in your being, your possibilities, your desires and your memories. This takes a lifetime to accept because we all nervously want to be Someone Else and experience existence through the armor of Having only an Outside instead of just the very vulnerable Inside in which we all feel imprisoned.

Dreams Instruct You – Your dreams bring all these passions together as psychic poetry, elucidating what you think you want, what you hope you want and what you are afraid you want. The ultimate magic will be to seize conscious control of this potent power source.

Creative Challenge – The challenge is to truly connect with others, reveal our world Inside, and avoid blasting their apparently impenetrable Outside with our terror, our longing and our fear.

Creative Danger – We cannot take hostages and we must never become a hostage. Freedom is a fine line to walk. If we wish to reach out, we must treat others with respect and claim like respect for ourselves. Accept your “experiments”; do not fear them but allow them to take you where you need to go.

Creative Opportunities – There will be stumbles and terrors aplenty, also successes that LOOK like stumbles and terrors, but which we only realize on reflection were real leaps forward. This is why we must carefully assess our daily efforts without being harsh with ourselves. Speak gently to yourself as you would to a most beloved child. You are your own Most Beloved Child. It is not selfish to commit to this belief, it is simply placing the oxygen mask over your own face FIRST so that you can administer this life-saving force to others. Find someone with whom you can share your journey, without fear or judgment. This connection will teach us everything we need to know about how to connect with others.

Fear & Trembling: Where would we get the courage to become creatives? Human history begins with an enormous fear of God or whoever is causing all that lightning, those earthquakes and striking everybody down. Killing small helpless, pretty things was meant to be flattering and propitiatory to this God (I don’t get it either.) then Jesus came with a message about how God was really loving, generous and wanted the best for us. We know how that turned out.

Becoming a Creative: As children, we struggled to understand where we fit on the power spectrum. I tried killing a snake and experimented with bullying other children the way I was bullied. I didn’t care for it. The only relief was in thinking about, researching and understanding what was going on. My earliest researches, as for many children, were in astronomy and dinosaurs. The cold magnificence of the planets and the complete wipeout of the dinosaurs gave me a way to stand back from the immediate suffering of the schoolyard. I then moved on to the early Egyptians who tried to solve their problems through magic and art. The art was visually appealing and the magic was emotionally soothing.

Pick Your Battles: I saw that most schoolyard fights were a reaction to the immediate suffering of pain or confusion, and that they magnified, rather than solved, those problems. There was a manifest holiness about this discovery. It rescued me from the torture of everyday life and elevated me to a plane where every other contributing thinker had already become immortalized.

Study & Strategy: I read everything I could get my hands on in history and biography (research) and in fairy tales (magic). When I fell in love with the novels of C.S. Lewis and Rumer Godden, the world judged my taste good – when I discovered Agatha Christie, it did not – but it turned out everyone else was reading her too. Agatha is a short course on human nature (original sin) and a proponent of both the scientific and Socratic methods. She’s great training for a Creative. I wrote it all down in my Training Journal.

Claiming Your Power: By the time you’re a teenager you can see you have some power – some mental, some physical. The question is developing it and finding appropriate gurus. Avoid the dominance/submission game.

Keep Going – Recognize that you have been touched by the goddess and honor her by being grateful for the glorious gifts of life.

Models & Mentors: “I did not deceive you. I permitted you to deceive yourself.” Agatha Christie

“An Indian proverb says everyone is a house with four rooms – physical, mental, spiritual and emotional. Most of us live in one room or the other but if you don’t visit each room each day you are not a complete person.” – Rumer Godden

    1. Becoming a Goddess – the Goddess Oracle by Alysse Aallyn

      Meditation – Mindfulness

Goddesses access Inner Wisdom through the Third Eye. We may physically live in the Now, but it is goddesses’ greatest good fortune that we can enrich our present with powerful visions of past and future. In our dreams, we can expand this to universal pasts and futures. “Now” serves as the lens through which our Body stays focused. To be absent from the Now is to miss the key to ecstasy that is our birthright.

Patience Multiplies Wealth – Wealth can be psychic, emotional, spiritual as well as physical, financial and actual.  Eating unripe fruit robs us of our harvest. Therefore, we learn to settle into the Now, line up our Past, Present, Future with our Conscious, Subconscious, & Unconscious levels. It’s a discipline mastered through the practice of meditation, which opens the Third Eye.

The first step is Emptying. Push your thoughts, memories, worries away. Concentrate solely upon your breath. If this is too hard, choose a mantra (such as “Thank You” or “Namaste”) or a piece of music without lyrics (Marconi Union’s Weightless is fabulous for this.) Just celebrate the emptiness, the Nothingness. As thoughts come to you, release them like balloons. Celebrate You.

In the Control of Your Own Mind Lies all Freedom. Without it you are a slave, whatever the world may think. Buddhists call your mind a “wild horse” that must be tamed. Learn to greet the Now as a dear old friend who knits everything that is “you” – all the scattered psychic pieces – back together. You can FEEL the healing.

Goddesses Risk – In our new digital world it’s very difficult to claim Time for yourself. Can you turn off all the flashing lights, the alerts, the signals, the seductions, the threats? You absolutely must learn to do that, you must feel “important” enough to do it. It’s a lifelong job that soon becomes a respite you greet as an old friend.  Turns out, feeling entitled is the most difficult part of the task. Tell others, “This is my recharge time. It’s absolutely critical.” Twenty silent minutes per day. Alone. You. Finding Eternity – and the Eternal You – through the Now. It doesn’t come easily. It comes through your infinite willingness, your scrupulous patience, your holy dedication. Don’t give up on You.

Give Up Your Competitiveness. – Nothing happens. Nothing happens. Nothing happens. Surrender your expectations. Push away the sadness, the depression, the loss, the anxiety, the rage, the worry. All can be released into the universe, floating away from you to pop harmlessly in the stratosphere.  You are alone now with the infinite. Slowly you begin to feel the pleasure, an indescribable ecstasy in which your ordinary human body becomes incandescent. Suddenly you want better things for yourself. More sleep. Better dreams. Healthier food.  A world of love and joyous possibility. Dip your toe in that completeness, twenty minutes per day. (Or more, if you can.) Now you have a glimpse of Heaven.

Goddesses Tune In to their Energy Source – Goddess learn to treasure their peaceful daily meditations as a source of strength. If you allow the pool of your mind to settle, you will be able to see deeply. I personally prefer eyes-closed meditation. Concentrate on your slow deep belly breaths. If a thought jumbles past, think the word, “Clear”. Keep breathing. Keep clearing. You will feel rooted to the soil, grounded on the earth. The energy will start to bubble through you.

Goddesses Stay Focused – Split focus – sometimes called “multi-tasking” – is the current work modality for a reason, and the reason is that it diminishes your psychic power. If you focus your full attention on anything or anyone, you will begin to feel the power flow between you and this object/idea/person. This is scary at first, but you will get used to it. Living beings (plants included) flourish under this attention and the connections that are made last forever.

Goddesses are Mindful – Understanding the power of the Now is your goddess strength. You are entirely here, entirely present in this moment. You have completely accepted your current incarnation. There will be time, alone with your Goddess Journal, to savor the past and call upon the future, but for this moment you know how to be entirely present in the Now. It is unbelievably powerful. It feels like Love.

Models & Mentors – “What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you become” – Buddha

“You can’t stop the waves but you can learn how to surf” – Jon Kabat-Zinn

    2. Becoming a Goddess – the Goddess Oracle by Alysse Aallyn

       Chrysalis – Potential

When Others See Cage, Goddesses See Chrysalis – Goddesses exist on the edge of possibility. Imagination suggests what COULD be. In the multiverse, physicists assure, every permutation is happening somewhere. Potential alerts us to the possibilities. The stick-colored, dead-seeming chrysalis contains nature’s most beautiful sprite, the butterfly. The invisibility of potential discourages predators by daylight, but at night, the chrysalis opens and we are free.

Goddesses Contain Multitudes – You are the apex of your family tree. Walt Whitman describes us, as well as himself. Be wary of the “restrictions” others place so confidently upon you. They want you to give up your quest in exchange for being their unpaid servant. Even paid servitude wouldn’t be worth it! Goddesses are comfortable being the first in a family to — do something. Anything. Because you ARE the first in your family to be you. You are unique. In day dreams and night dreams, on conscious and unconscious levels, you explore chances and contingencies.

Goddesses Won’t Be Sidelined – People we love, admire, and express need for keep trying to pin us down. They want to get to “know” us so they can “rely” on our sameness. They want us to stay where they left us, like a coat or umbrella. Goddesses won’t willingly place limits on themselves, just to be accepted. We are unrestrained in our wild and dreaming imagination.

Goddesses Preserve Inner Wildness – Every action you perform, every thought you think, suggests and then creates its opposite or “shadow” as Jung would say. Think of the story of Max, who voyaged overnight to play with the Wild Things until he finally decided he wanted to return to his safe, warm, familiar bed, thereby claiming both worlds at once.  Free yourself to consider all the alternatives. The first freedom is Mental. Goddesses fly above possibility.

Goddesses Are Warmed by Inner Fire – Goddesses don’t listen to the limitations others have set on them. Who would believe that dried up chrysalis is going to turn into a magnificent butterfly? Yet it will. You have the butterfly within you. When you concentrate, you can feel its wings stretching and expanding.

Goddess Risk – In another famous tale,  Peter Pan is replaced and can never come home. Once home realizes who we really are, perhaps it will disappear.  Once the chrysalis is broken, we can never crawl back in. Fear is a valid reaction when danger is about. But danger is triggered by lack of escape. Keep all your psychic escape hatches open.

What Fable Do You Cherish?  We tell ourselves stories. Harry Potter, Narnia or Marvel? Expand it outwards. Insert yourself. So many discoveries have been made from and through fantasy fan fiction they are too numerous to mention here. But allowing yourself to dream is key. Imagine you are outfitting your inner butterfly. What colors? How about all colors, constantly changing?

Goddesses Are Quick-Change Artists – Goddesses may become a butterfly or a snowflake or an orchid or some new form that hasn’t been envisioned yet. Goddesses are avatars. We keep ourselves in peak readiness to accept the universal challenge. We realize life is a dance, we can adapt to its steps and offer steps all our own.

Goddesses Protect Their Potential – Others will constantly try to constrain and define you and herd you into their enclosure. Don’t go. What you will become is not up to them, it is not even up to those who mentor and love you. It is up to you.

Goddesses Protect the World’s Potential – The young, the aged, the helpless, the teacher, the crossing guard, the medic, the harvester – these are people who shepherd the universe into positive becoming. They are occupied with vital work and can’t protect themselves or those they help. Life’s Goddess will protect them. The forces of destruction are all around us, the universe can’t afford to waste a scrap of its positive potential.

Models & Mentors – “The only person you are destined to be is the person you decide to become” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Consult not your fears but your hopes and dreams. Think not about your frustrations but your potential.  Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed but with what it is still possible for you to do.”        –  Pope John XXIII

“Our essential nature is one of pure potentiality”

      – Deepak Chopra

“Accept whatever comes and meet it with the best you have to give” – Eleanor Roosevelt

    3. Becoming a Goddess – the Goddess Oracle by Alysse Aallyn

      Memory – The Past

Time to check your consciousness levels – How comfortable are you with the very existence, not to mention the depth, of your conscious/subconscious/

      unconscious/collective unconscious levels?

Consciousness is your awareness of the Now.

Subconscious are all the memories and ideas pushed out of the Now into “Later”. With effort, you can become aware of these.

The Unconscious you are completely unaware of. It takes considerable  mining effort to get down there, but it can be done. This is where you store everything you’ve heard, everything you’ve seen, even peripherally, even without bringing into awareness at the time. The Collective Unconscious is the most controversial.  Do you believe you are a historical repository of other people’s memories, including those of whose existence you are  entirely unaware? I do.

You Have Multiple People Blending Their Lives With Yours – Do you ruminate about past events? Are you haunted by what was done & left undone? Do you feel nostalgia for a past that never was? Do you have a favorite period in history or a fantasy universe that you wish you lived in, instead of this one?

You are the Heroine of Your Goddess Saga – Accept your centrality in your own myth. It doesn’t matter what other people think – they are the bit players. Think of your past as a Quest Saga. What did you want? How did it change? What blocked you? What tools have you got at your command? Where do you go from here?

Rewrite the Past – You absolutely CAN, but first you first must face its full horror and the effect on you. Generally, because we were immature, we didn’t understand what was going on, were co-opted by our persecutors and prevented from fighting back. Things are different now! The hardest thing to accept is that beloved caregivers didn’t want the “best” for us – they only wanted us to be just like them. Let’s begin bringing those levels of consciousness into symmetry.

“I Don’t Believe in Ghosts but I Never Met a Person who Wasn’t Haunted” is a very wise saying. What haunts you exactly? Or who? Ghosts are malignant – if they weren’t they would be power spirits, fairy godmothers or guardian angels. What malignancies from your past are out to get you and how do they make themselves known? One of Freud’s contributions was to point out that people prefer their neurosis – ie imprisonment – to liberation. Why? What’s in it for them – or you?

You Define YOU. Yes, Goddesses have scars – those are bragging rights! You have been through the wars! ‘Rewriting” the past means understanding what really happened, the limitations of those who surrounded you, and exploring your chances and choices today. Just because parents, teachers or “society” sentenced you to play a role, you can step out of it at any time. Buddhist thought is very helpful here. Buddha teaches that life itself is an illusion – a dream. It changes depending on how we think about it. In the present, inside your mind, you hold all the keys to your own liberation. Re-visit Pema Chodron’s Noble Heart and Eckhart Tolle’s Power of Now to explore how you can assume immediate control of your life and your mind and turn your past into fuel to power your growth.

Goddesses Know Who They Are – Remember, you’ve got a purpose. You’ve got a future. You’ve thought about your past and worked out conflicts with a mentor and in your Goddess Journal.

Goddesses Develop A Sense of History – You understand that history is a spiral, not a circle – the same things do keep coming around but in a different form. You see all around you the operation of karma.

Choosing Evil is Choosing Chaos – and condemning yourself to death. It can’t ever work out except temporarily. You understand the battle between darkness and light and you have committed yourself firmly to The Light.

Goddesses Are Storytellers – You emblemize the message with your life, with your words, with your body, with your very presence. You have become one link in the unbreakable chain of Eternal Perfection and you will gain eternal reward.

Models & Mentors –  “You never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory” – Dr Seuss

“Memory is the treasury and guardian of all things” – Cicero

“In the end, we’ll all become stories.” – Margaret Atwood

“Your brain forms the same neural connections and muscle memory whether you are imagining a task or actually doing it”-  Yo Yo Ma

    4. Becoming a Goddess – fulfilling the Goddess Oracle by Alysse Aallyn

      Peace – Serenity

Do Goddesses get time off?  They need it!  Are your reveries organized around beaches, vacations, relaxation, memories of happy times when you had nothing to do but enjoy yourself feeling only the moment? Goddesses have a heavier lift! We have to live in four time frames at once – past, present, future AND possible!

Is Peace Possible? Consider Serenity as an Idea, and an Ideal. Most of us are familiar with the “serenity prayer” written by theologian Reinhold Niebuhr:

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference, living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; taking this world as it is and not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all things right.“

The Serenity Prayer works as an inoculation against pointless worry, which it sees as “borrowing trouble.” The benefit of cultivating serenity is that it allows tender shoots to grow and broken limbs – and organs – to mend.

Goddess Challenge – Like meditation, serenity is a mental gymnastic that takes practice. Make a list of your most pressing concerns. Can you do anything about any of them today? If so, appoint a time when you will take a step towards resolving this concern. If you can’t do anything about it, put it forcefully out of your mind. Goddesses aren’t in charge of the universe! We are merely an upgrade in toughness and heroics. Imagine your worries as a bunch of balloons. Now let them go, one by one. Put each useless worry on a piece of paper and burn them slowly, one by one.

Goddess Mantra – Give yourself a “serenity mantra” a word or phrase you find comforting and centering, and repeat it out loud to yourself. St. Julian of Norwich recommended: ”All will be well”, Coué offered, “Every day, in every way I am getting better and better”, some yoga enthusiasts chant a simple “Om.” You can use a phrase from your own past said to you by a Beloved Person – “now you’ll be fine” “You’re safe” “You’re perfect” “Everything’s all right” or the tried and true: “I love you.” My favorite is from the Book of Revelation: “Every tear is wiped away.”

Goddess Danger – Don’t be tempted to become a mentor while you’re still learning. Goddesses usually want to be helpful but this can be a snare. Mentoring is an end-of-life honor, but you are still placing the oxygen mask on your own face so that you can stay on your plan. Not everyone has the steel to graduate to Goddess. You’re welcome to show friends the basics but don’t bother to walk them through it. You’re nobody’s nanny. You’re busy.

FOMO – We are all worried about “missing” something. Often that “centering person”, that reassuring person from our past is not just the one who gave us the relaxation code, but is also the same one who told us what to worry about: ie. ”Make sure all the locks are locked” “Have you done your homework?” There certainly are things to be concerned about (“Are you registered to vote?”) but there are plenty of worries we CAN’T address. Return to the serenity prayer and start weeding out – on paper – your Justifiable Concerns. One of the best things about Anxiety – and I mean this – is that it offers an opportunity to ask for help. Yes, I say “opportunity”! Because – remember The Lovers -life is all about RELATIONSHIPS.

Worries offer Opportunities to Forge More Meaningful, Worthwhile Relationships. Get ready to experiment. In every relationship in your life, your requirements, tolerance, communication goals will present as unique. Many people yearn to speak to a “professional” – therapist or life coach – and plenty of professionals out there are auditioning for a little – or a lot – of your hard-earned cash. An excellent place to start is with Proven Gurus like Tolle Eckhart or Pema Chodron who can be accessed for free from any library. See what you think. Evaluate their assistance. Inquire further.

Goddess Know What They Have to Do – Others will be envious that we have laid out a plan for our lives, as well as that it is flexible, that it is life-enhancing and that it gives us permission to Enjoy. Be humble and unsurprised about this jealousy.

You’re Entitled – Others also could find peace if they began to take control of the drama that rages within them. Point them in a hopeful direction but don’t get sucked in.

Meditation Looks Like Dreaming – The truth is just what they suspect: that there is enormous pleasure in being a goddess. You will finally feel confident, and when you know your own strength, and the value of your time, you understand your own value. This is what others yearn for. They can learn it, too. But in the mean time you are enjoying your hard-fought-for serenity.

We Need So Little To Be Happy – Here is the great realization. Do goddesses require entourages or enablers and sycophants, vast bank accounts, and acres of product and showcase? Or is one bowl, one mat, one dawn enough for us when we are fueled by our own power?  Allow yourself to revel in the comfort of another’s presence or the private pleasures of your own thoughts and company. There will be the joy of another morning, the peace of another night’s rest. The confidence of maintaining a sharp, clear head. Welcome to the Universe.

      1. Becoming a Goddess – the Goddess Oracle by Alysse Aallyn

        The Lovers – Alliances

Check your friend list. Do you dream of love, sex, connection? Hand-holding, hugging, family celebrations? We were all born to search for Alliances. An alliance is symbiotic, good for both sides of the equation. To reach out, you must each decide your motive (“I Could Use a Friend”).  Approach with the CERTAINTY that you are WORTHY of friendship. This last one is tricky because we are all looking for validation.  This is the source of many “imposter” dreams where we find ourselves naked in front of the entire class, unprepared on Test Day!

Goddesses Need Respect – A Goddess is a Soul Apart. You have a mission, and the Other must be worthy of you. You must be able to respect them, too. You can see that dominance/submission becomes a zero-sum game with each trying to knuckle the other under. No relationship can last under that stress and it degenerates into a destructive spiral.

Goddesses Have Mystery – You are aware of vast reaches of your Self that are unknown and In Development. Most of your promises are tenuous. You are stepping forward with hope into uncharted and potentially dangerous wilderness. This means the pair must accept each other in good faith, as followers of the Light. You will rapidly see you cannot forge relationships until you have a working concept of what the Light is and what its potentialities are. Too many aspirants want the Lover to define them when our obligation is to define ourselves. Accept that with a mystery this vast, it can’t be “solved”. It can only be momentarily elucidated as we receive glimpses of our path and purpose.

Good Relationships are Complementary – You don’t have to provide everything, and they don’t either. Each of you has lapses and blindness the other can improve.

You Are a Giver and Worthy of Help – We can’t get through this alone, and we don’t want to. Luckily, we are surrounded by other humans, struggling, just like us.  If we pledge to help each other, we can dispatch terror and celebrate joy! Comforting! But how can we tell the difference between Builders and Exploiters? We don’t want to end up as someone else’s meal.

Goddess Danger  – When someone is trying to mangle your self-esteem, recognize this. Even if it comes in the guise of “friendship” this person is an enemy. This is not what friends are for. When someone is trying to “capture” you, i.e. limit and control your possibilities and behavior, that person is a hostage-taker looking for slaves. NOT a friend.

Goddess Challenge – How to recognize friends? Friends are honest: “I just don’t like that dress but maybe it’s me.” Friends are forgiving, ‘I’m sorry, I was having a bad day. I know you’re sorry, too.”  Friends are fun, “Let’s cheer ourselves up.” Friends are helpful: “Let’s figure a way out of this.” Are you honest, forgiving, fun-loving and helpful? You’re ready to be a friend. Friendship is a good place to start. Be the friend you want to have – warm, funny, loyal, truthful.

Love Enriches – It Does Not Deplete – – Friends are a mirror in which we see ourselves. We can experiment with possibilities, we can expand our reach.  Our intelligence is doubled, as well as our efforts.  Our sorrows are halved and our ideas are increased exponentially.  Reach out! You never know until you try. And there’s always the possibility of Love and deepening sexual connection.

Love Transforms as a Goddess Transforms – Things you thought you could not do seem possible now because someone believes in you. Believe in yourself because they do, and honor them by believing in them, in return.

Locked Back to Back the Goddess Pair Sees Everything – Gaze turns outward at the world, not inward on each other. Are you chewing or strengthening? Learn the steps of your tango. Add new steps of your own.

As You Change, the Couple Changes – Compare Training Journals. Are you evolving? Can you evolve together? Is it safe to speak the truth? Does one partner try to dominate? Does one partner use infantile behaviors to get “their way”? There is no “one way.” As joint goddess, the couple has goals also. Compare. Allow differences. The truth will be revealed.

          The Storm – Conflict

Something’s Always Coming. Are you having bad dreams? Of natural disasters like storms, volcanoes and  flooding?  Do you fear war, robbery, violation, home invasion? Or do you dream about your loved one’s face turning bitter and their words cutting sharply?  Conflict is inevitable.  It is even necessary – birth pangs seem terrifying. In dreams we rehearse our fears until some of us fear to dream.

It Always Comes Before You’re Ready – Here it is – the reason you become a goddess. You must always be larger than the fight. You must embody the meaning of the fight, and to do that you have to discover what the meaning is. You represent the Principle of Life and have committed yourself to its immortalization.

Battle or go under. It’s not pleasant under there. The force against you is superior – unthinking – inhuman – so you will have to be wily and know when to expend energy and when to conserve your strength.

You are a Force Field.  You are a magnet for desire, change, for evolution itself. This comes by virtue of your goddess decision making. Others may tell you to stand back, take your place in line or wait your turn but your appearance into this chaotic universe triggered no such guarantee. We are here to learn to use our power.

Conflict Makes a Goddess – Force stirs up resistance.  Actions create re-action as we swing back and forth in our determination and direction. We clash and crash.  Sometimes we regret it bitterly, “why did I do that?”  Sometimes we fear loss or harm so much we become immobilized.  The challenge is to assume your stride, elucidate your goals and plan a direction.

Goddess Danger – It’s all too easy to make others fear you. The one with the biggest weapon THINKS she the fight. But what looks like compliance to you could be revolution – you will be toppled and lose your heart’s desire.

Goddess Opportunity – Learning to use conflict constructively and creatively is a Superpower.  Other people are force fields, too.  If there is any way to blend these powers and head in the same direction, we become invincible. Welcome the knowledge provided by Storm.

Study Your Opponent – Some clever scholar has separated these opponents into groups & classes. Read up! Some opponents – physical contests, weather conditions – don’t even have a brain. So who – or what – are you playing against?

You Are Playing Against Yourself – your own fear, incapacity, beginner status. Seek mentoring so you have advice along the journey. Who is the sensei who will guide you? Someone who desires both your safety and your growth.

Reward Yourself – The best place to do this is your training journal. Think hard about every contest and how you performed.  Assess your challenges and accomplishments. Way to go!

“Laughter is the proof that our tragedies don’t define us. Laughter is the survivor’s language” – Josh James

            – Michael Douglas

          1. Becoming a Goddess – claiming your immortality by Alysse Aallyn

            Creativity – The Artist

YOU ARE AN ARTIST – You know you possess the goddess power of making Something out of Nothing. Think. Feel. Look at the tactile world around you and reach out your hands.

Goddess and Artists immortalize themselves. Sometimes their works are so intriguingly beautiful that we are drawn in and our critical senses – our fear – is tranquillized while we allow the artist to work magic upon us. Artists aspire to be magicians of the mind and soul.

Goddess Challenge  –    You create something unforgettable because you do not want to be forgotten. You want to open hearts, minds and brains just as yours were first opened, long ago, when you looked upon this amazing world for the first time  and felt the power & potential of what you saw. Goddess feel the same thing. We march to a different drummer we feel inside ourselves. We are inner, not outer directed.

Goddess Danger – There is possibility here for such overweening pride that you place your own psyche above Creation in importance.   If you seek to divert worship of creation to yourself your own soul will harden unto death, and your creative powers will be extinguished.

Goddess Opportunity – Join with all the goddesses in creating something entirely new that the world will not want to live without. The joy of sharing, the rapture of being known, the ecstasy of expression, of gratitude of being understood, will be yours.

Are you an artist because you say you are or because they say you are? Well, are you a goddess because you say you are or because they say you are? I think it should be obvious that is TOTALLY NOT UP TO THEM. You MUST decide you are a goddess, you have to FEEL like a goddess and they can NEVER “tell” you what you are. It’s exactly that way for artists, too. It’s a temperament, a way of viewing the world, and because it’s in harmony with Creation all around us, it’s enormously satisfying. Really gets those alpha waves going.

The Goddess in You needs to Protect your Creativity. It is always under threat.

Hustle Culture – Art can’t hustle but the merchandisers and the monetizers hasten to tell you: “Close enough – let’s get this thing to market.” But you need to find out what’s there – why this subject, these tools are drawing you. You need to think, to explore, to experiment, to start the process of 10,000 “failures” Edison said are the steps to success.

The Creative Goddess – If you’re not a creative goddess, you’re someone else’s goddess and that’s a living death. Strategize. Speculate. Get out that Training Journal. Dream. Speak to your soul. Allow it to shine.
